Somewhere in the belly of this thing there's Berlin-school electronic and space music, and all through its limbs are timbres and textures of dark '80s synth; there is the hypnotic pulse of Clock DVA's '90s albums, and the grandness and shimmering bleak of FSOL's Dead Cities — but this is a new beast, in a beautiful new skin. This album is a completely contemporary sonic descendant of so many of my favourite sounds of the past 40 years in electronic music. What a great, great record.
